FAQ's

Roadworthy Questions

Useful answers before your workshop visit.

When might I need a Roadworthy Certificate?

A Victorian Roadworthy Certificate is generally required when you sell a registered vehicle, transfer registration, or re-register a vehicle. Check the requirements for your situation with VicRoads before booking.

What does the inspection cover?

The inspection focuses on the safety items that matter on the road: brakes, tyres and wheels, steering and suspension, seatbelts, lights, glass and visibility, and the structure of the vehicle.

How long does an inspection take?

Most inspections take a couple of hours, depending on the vehicle. We will confirm timing when you book so you know what to plan for.

How long is my Roadworthy Certificate valid?

In Victoria a Certificate of Roadworthiness is current for 30 days from the date it’s issued, so it’s best to time your inspection close to your sale or VicRoads appointment. If that window passes before the transaction is finalised, the vehicle will need to be re-inspected.

What if repairs are needed?

We explain exactly what needs attention and provide an upfront quote before any work starts. Once the work is completed and the vehicle passes, the certificate can be issued.
